root is the user id with which most system administration is done. Only users in group wheel may issue commands as root. This is refered to as "having root".
All system admins possess root, as does the webmaster. Other persons deemed worthy of trust ,and with a need for it, are from time to time given root.
Having root and its superuser status is highly sought-after as it makes the bearer all-powerfull, examples of its power include fake-posts , disuserments, the ability to login as others and general nastiness to others.
