INTERSOCS NEWSGROUPS WILL BE RETIRED UNTIL THE SERVICE IS WORKING WELL AGAIN <CAPS-LOCK off>

Aims

• To trim un-used groups
• To rename & add other groups
• Delete bogus groups
• Generally make the newsgroups better/cleaner
• Improve the hierarchy so related groups are beside each other by default

This posting is a working list of some ideas we have knocking around for the improvement of the newsgroups. We'll argue about it and revise the document as suggestions are addedand good ideas become obvious. Do not treat this document as final or even totally serious - treat them as ideas to play with. The summer will be the best time to make most of these changes, though the lists can be fixed soon enough. The expiry time is another thing we want fixed soon too. 1 month is the current proposal. Also suggested is that we moved redbrick.* to rb.* - This would reduce the screen clutter and leave more room for comments.
