Matters Arising

There were no matters arising from the minutes of the previous meeting.

Boards

Meeting to be arranged to discuss the deletion of some of the boards as in the plan I have placed at /local/committee/doc/general/newsgroup_reorganisation.txt

Meeting to take place during the summer rather than before exams, and firm decisions to be made at the meeting about the boards to be deleted/renamed.

Handover

All of the committee are ready to hand over, except Mick and Padraic, who want to wait until after the Final Year Project to have more time to dedicate to it.

Standing Order

An extra line is to be included in the standing order regarding commercial websites on redbrick, details to be decided on through committee list.

Events for Next Year

Much deliberation was made over which events are to be held next year. Bernard has outlined that the events he wishes to take place next year are as follows:

  1. Freshers Ball
  2. Hallowe'en Ball
  3. Christmas Ball
  4. Tech Week

10 Year Event

  1. Table Quiz
  2. RedBrick Awards
  3. Wavehunt

There are no plans to hold an Alt Rag Ball next year.

Michelle suggested that events should be scrapped if no firm decisions have been made on all the details two weeks before the event takes place. She would also like to have a set list of events for the year by the end of the summer.

A feedback form is to be set up on the events page, with mail directed at Bernard who can use this as a way to gauge people's feelings about events.

Anniversary

The 10 year anniversary will not be a formal event, however the event may be "neat dress essential". Sub committees to be formed for the organisation of this event, with firm plans to be made regarding band and venue asap.

Bernard suggested Therapy? as a possible choice for band, as the original RedBrick server is named after one of their albums. However a suitable venue must be decided on before a band like this can be booked.

Possible venue suggestions included The Village, Whelans, The Guinnesss Storehouse and The Sugar Club. A bigger venue has been deemed more appropriate for this event as there are 10 generations of RedBrick members who may attend.

A book is to be created with photos and comments from RedBrick members, and the anniversary celebrations are to coincide with Tech Week.

All those involved in getting sponsorship for events (in particular Michelle, Kenneth, Jessica and Bernard) are to investigate possible sponsors for the anniversary as soon as possible.

Intersocs/Intervarsity Events ::

Possible intervarsity events with Drama and Snowboarding were discussed to help alleviate some of the stigma associated with redbrick, including a trip to Kiltiernan and a themed day.

Concerns were expressed at other large societies taking over events, and not pulling their weight when it comes to the organisation of events.

Clubs and Socs Day and Freshers Ball ::

Jessica suggested making both these days as fun as possible, to entice new members to join and make them come back to redbrick events, incorporating games and good crowd pleasing bands into a big Fresher's Ball.

End of Year Event ::

Picnic/Pub session to take place at the end of the exams, involving neither alcohol/barbecues so as not to break any rules. Pub session to follow.

AOB ::

It is possible that a web boards interface will be available in the next few weeks. To be discussed further on mailing list.
