Minutes for RedBrick committee meeting 03/03/2003

Present: Nikki Kenny, Trevor Johnston, Grainne Sheerin, Elaine Bannon, Shane Tallon, David Johnston, Eoin Campbell, Declan O'Neill, Cillian Sharkey, Mark Dunne, Dermot Duffy

Absent: Declan McMullen

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and ratified.

RedBrick Room

• Nikki, Cillian and Trevor had been to see Brian Trench. We could have the small

room. The other room may be bigger but thought that there was basically no chance of having it, although he would enquire about it.

• He (Trench) advocated waiting for a response; if it was negative we felt

we should take the smaller room.

• We should obtain new quotes for the room, especially since it so much smaller.

Batteries

• Eoin: "They're gone".
• We have the EPA certificate.
• Ian Russell had taken the UPS rack for shelving.

T-shirts + Hats

• Grainne informed the committee that these had arrived.
• 30 caps had been ordered with an embroidered logo on front.

Computers for Members

These were expected Wednesday. 12 people had paid in the end.

Sponsorship

• Trevor had sent an email to Dell and would be sending one out to APC shortly.
• We should talk to Ian Russell about this.

Upcoming Events

• Elaine had mailed the Helix about booking it for a conference.
• We briefly discussed a trip abroad. France and Spain were mentioned.

SPC Services

• Eoin advised us to expect an email from Ian Russell.
• They wish to improve the computer services for clubs and societies; additions would

include webmail and storage space accessible directly from Windows 2000 (ie. Samba).

• Mark pointed out that a new machine for this would be nice.
• We need more details before coming to a decision.

• Admin Architecture Meeting
  • This is being held Wednesday March 12th.
