Minutes of committee meeting held on 12/2/2003.

Present: Nikki Kenny, Trevor Johnston, Cillian Sharkey, Dermot Duffy, Shane Tallon, Eoin Campbell, Declan O'Neill, Declan McMullen, Mark Dunne, David Johnston

Absent: Elaine Bannon, Grainne Sheerin

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and ratified.

RedBrick Room

  • The committee had had a meeting with Richie Kelly (of the buildings office) that morning.
  • It turns out now that the School of Communications are using the room that leads to our room(s). They had mailed us earlier today saying that we could have access whenever we wanted. There is, however, another room through which access to "our" rooms could be obtained.
  • Sockets in the room, but no air conditioning and dodgy lighting.
  • He made the point that we should really be going through a student body rather than the buildings office.
  • We will get updated quotes.
  • Next step is to throw this out on the boards for discussion.
  • Declan (McMullen) suggested enquiring about the room beside L125. We will write a letter to the Head of School about this immediately.
  • We will try to arrange a meeting with the communications people.

Table Quiz

  • Dave has all the questions drawn up, there will be about 5 RedBrick questions. There are 9 rounds of 10 questions each.
  • Shane has answer forms typed up and has a mountain of photocopying to do the following day.

alt.rag.ball

Shane will have posters done by the end of the week.

Bouncy Castle

  • Declan (O'Neill) getting copy of cert tomorrow.
  • We need a generator and work permits for working on campus.

DLT Tapes

Eoin says tapes will work out at about E72 per tape. Official quote to be gotten by Eoin. We plan to get 11 tapes.

Computers for Members

  • Eoin has a contact who has a number of second-hand refurbished machines for sale. These would be fairly old (PI, PII) but would only cost, say, E100 for a bare laptop.
  • We will mail membership about this soon.

Kevin Warwick Talk

We will have a copy of the presentation for the talk before the talk.

AOB

  • Website
    • David informed the committee that the new site should be up by Friday, all going well.
  • T-Shirts
    • We will announce the T-shirt design competition now and mention that simpler designs have a greater chance of winning.
  • Polystyrene Bricks
    • Grainne wished to inform the committee that she could obtain novelty polystyrene bricks (painted red) which may be of interest at some events.

This concluded the business of the meeting.
