Pico

Pico is the default text editor on RedBrick, and is the first editor that everyone uses when they join. It's used to type out mails, type out newsgroup posts, edit files, etc. - all the usual. It's derived from Pine, is extremely straight forward to use, comes with basic editing functions only, and no cryptic commands ala Vi/Vim are needed.

Many brickies despise pico due to it's simplicity and minimalism, but many (including myself) love it for those reasons. So much so that debates on the boards between the "Pico sucks!" and the "Pico rules!" camps are common, and a yearly event. Often, people change camps from "Pico rules!" to "Pico sucks!" after using Vim, but never the other way around funnily enough.
