Minutes of Meeting, Monday 30th April 2001.

Present:

  • kpodesta, moridin, tibor, p, spock, redgiant, cokane, mark, bubble, colmmacc, cns, kamilli, thor, montoya, magluby, marvin

Redbrick Room

Martin Conroy has the plans for this, courtesy of Jon. The further the room is from an outside wall the more expensive it will be to get air conditioning in. The A.C. will cost upwards of £2000 and we'll apply to the SPC for this.

e450

It's arrived, and is currently housed by those generous folks in CSD.

Hardware

DrJolt will order the DLT Backup system from Scan, on his CC, and we should also order a replacement HDD for the one which we used when the last HDD corrupted.

Ents

  • Brians' Ball:

This is looking like it's not going to be "Brians' Ball" afterall… the ppl that turned up for his committee are quite intent on organising it themselves and having Brian as a figurehead type thing. They're thinking about booking the CityWet hotel, as other venues aren't available. John Canavan will try and get on their committee as finance guy, continuing the trend of redbrick involvement which was started last year.

  • Freshers Event: We'll probably go with TBMC again, magluby & tibor are looking into it.
  • Will possibly run 2 events during the summer, one for webcomp results and another depending on the attendance at the first.
  • Next years committee will have pictures on the redbrick webpage.
  • Karl will look into getting T-Shirts printed with our new logo, and Brian will look into mousemats.

Web Issues

  • We'll have a prize of £200 for the winning entry, to design an online Clubs & Socs calendar.
  • Barry will be handing over to Colm next week
  • Barry's going to apply for the SSL cert from Baltimore again.

Backups

We need to formulate a backup policy & rotation and stick to it.

Disuserment

DAFT will be modified so that whenever a disuserment takes place the committee will get an automatic update.

S390

Doc messed up our access to the S390, which has now been fixed up. Mark is going to take over this project. As regards the admin training, would it be possible for us to get SAGE certification for the Redbrick Admin Training Course?
