FRESHERS BALL
In terms of money -> Charlene has ¤1'300 in the bank and its been estimated that clubs & socs day will bring in another ¤2'000
Mark had 2 bands, but they were both too expensive, the first being ¤1'500 after negotiation the second ¤900 after negotiation
Charlene was talking with tarma@rb and pressa@rb who both have rb bands and would be willing to play.
Mark looked into a comedian, gumibear@rb's friend, who is a regular at the Comedy Club. Needs checking out because last comedian was purdy@rb whose act involved insulting people...
Another idea for the fresher's ball was to have a raffle and the first 'x' amount of ppl who arrive are in it.
The venue is to be booked for 400 ppl, this compared to last years 300 who came. Last year's figure is said to be damaged due to the mess up of the accounts and advertsing only on the day.
Thought best to hold it in Dublin. Last time we ordered buses, back when Angel@rb was ents, only 20 ppl used them, -> big faliure.
Many people willing to help including ryaner@rb and thedara@rb, though mark claims dara may need a drink ;)
Idea to have someone 'strapped into' a redbrick t-shirt at the Spire to help people get to the venue who don.t know Dublin well.
Tina mentioned having food in the seminar room and moving off from there.
Supply alcohol, and getting the SPC to pay for it, talk with our own Dave/biteme who did it or the debate soc and also the music soc.
Currently we have a comedian, 'X' band and spot prices.
Decieded mark has ¤800 tops to organise everything.
FRESHERS WEEK
Mark.s idea is to simply abuse people till they join..
Tina had the first year timetable to jump on the freshers in the lectures, though this didn.t happen last year despite also having the timetable.
Labs booked for the tutorials for 'getting into RB'
Possible information stand in the Hub, information booklet, 'how to use redbrick; with blurbs & pictures of committee.
T-shit incentive. When a committee spots an ordinary member in a redbrick t-shirt, their name is noted, and the person seen the most advertising redbrick at the end of the week wins a prize.
ORIENTATION WEEK
Who is there? Bi real answers. Someone up to do introduction speach. Myself and Charlene got the orientation week as helpers.
CLUBS AND SOCS DAY
Loads of people get 'strapped into' rb t-shirts. - Note more then one
More then likely in the seminar room, have lots of signs pointing the way up. See who else we can get in. Someone moving around downstairs for renewal of accounts.
Giving out of bags, includes the intersocs live cd, sweets etc. Also mark said kevin at linux.ie would give a load of mandrake cds if begged..
Bags are expensive, look into poundworld? Marks's friend has a cash and carry card. Get lots of sweets and cocktail sausages
Bottles of coke from Tesco at 30c per bottle.
You brought up the reinventing [?] of the 'gofers' list to help with promotions and events.
Accounts will be created immediately unlike last year, admins hope so anyway.. Cillian wrote the script but didn.t work correctly. Freshers ball suffered because of this last year.
Possibly less swipe machines, last year we got rid of people so quickly it always looked empty and unpopular.
HALLOWEEN EVENT
Wants to be a fancy dress event but somehow.. not gay. Thoughts about involving drama soc, though this was noted as risky because often times drama take over events. One thought was to have geel/goth themed . was this not done somewhere?
Get the associates involved in this.
Cost set at ¤500. Of course once we get an idea of what part the SPC will pay, may rise.
use of the Issic Buts as the venue. Not too expensive and mark has the notes and bill for last years Alt Rag Ball. Note, they kicked us out of there early at the Alt Rag.
CHRISTMAS BALL
Main point is to boook EARLY! Again somewhere cheap...
Karaoke machines, to be used after the band and drinking. If the place does not have the machines possibly look at Argos to buy them (possibly give it away as the prize at the end of the night?)
Sound equipment, seemed to be split as to whether it matters if it.s good quality or not.
Bootleg concert/Alt Rag Ball
Get up and mime to backing tracks or as you put it "making an ass out of yourself"
Make it a charity event & get several socities involved in it!
Of course for Rag Week.
TECH WEEK
Mark has a few speakers, possibly see about getting the gamessoc speakers back for this if he needs it though they are all games industry related.
HEAnet has agreed to stream the evnt. CSD have the equipment though HEAnet are willing to lend. John knows or has been shown how to use the equipment already
Game Programming tutorials, teach how to make rpgs - no graphics needed, etc. 2 tutorials a day, any games and one helpdesk. Have them set around lectures.
Learn to rip cds/dvds [legality?] and possibly see about dave/emperor, coming back and giving a talk.
Install Fest of linux. Rules include only one pc per person and no customizaton. Vanila installs etc.. Possibly ise of knoppix with athena destop manger, suggested by mark. Charlie mentioned fedora . newb friendly.
Get art soc in to do a digital gallery, also look into a wine and cheese reception.
Have gamessoc do another bring your own pc. Possibly look into this on the same day as the install fest - people have their computers in and all..
AWARDS
@ end of year
categories such as 'best hey border', 'best website', 'most active person' etc, along with the .worst xyz.
Charlie mentioned having a website submission form so anybody can enter stuff.
Post of redbrick.discussion for idea of categories to make
Look into getting venue, speaker, lighting for the event.
TABLE QUIZ
Hopefully several mini ones.
Prizes, last years were poor and dvd players are far too common now! Possibly look into a flight lesson, paint ball voucher . something adventurous. UGC card is ¤160 euro, but can look into at least getting discount and rb pay rest. Stocs have members working there, John will check through them.
SUMMER EVENT
Out of country, this was cut off here cause its next year's commitees prob :)
10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Setup the collage, get pictures
1995-2005 sounds better then 1995-2006
Look into doing a committee dinner, big event. Watch out for fireworks i.e. spock, and many ex committee members don.t get on well with each other.
Get wall space in the Hub for this.
OTHER EVENTS
Paintballing will receive no funding from SPC. Get enough people with good promotion and it.s fine.
Mark will look into doing some outdoor event things, such as seen around the green area during freshers week. Buildings office may not be happy due to the violence of the event. Insurance issue? Make it into a barbecue?
Battle of the bands. Everybody liked this idea. ¤50 entry fee or such, prize of an day.s recording in temple bar perhaps. It will give us a nice profit. Play in the venue or such - redbrick music cd?!
Hey Map in Hub. Eoghan can get it printed A0 size. Ask in boards, by e-mail and hey if people have complaints with their username going up on it. Email Charlie and he will blank them out or whatever.

GRANT APP
Signatures on cheques set up. Not actually in our constitution on who can sign checks. But in the spcs sample one. Chair, treasurer and sec are empowered to sign. A fourth can ISSUE checks if the chair and/or treasurer have already signed, if they are unavailable to issue the checks. Must have two signatures on them.
Pay Dermot/Dizer the money owed. ¤50 for #lobby night out, ¤12 for key cuts and ¤50 for console terminal.
INTERSOCS CD
200 cds settled on? To include vim, gvim, frozen bubbles and tux racer - gvim already included. Plus helpdesk tutorials and slides.
ASP SERVER
Purpose us to diversify redbrick, have a windows machine. Get a cheap pc to hold it. Apache has a module for this but its shit and admins do not want to offer a crap service.
Poke Eoghan.s contact when he has time. Find out how much it would cost through him.
As a last possibility, firebird@netsoc could be contacted but would receive nothing in return. Preferable not to have to go to her though.
REDBRICK LIBRARY
SPC are giving out lockers to societies in the Hub. Use as library.
Buy much used books, donate our own, donate text books from previous years
AOB

DCU FM, broadcast where on campus the person is - ca buildings, res, Library, etc

enthusiasm to give a speech. Intra office staff would be a bad idea because they suck.
