Redbrick Committe Meeting: 08 September 2004
Meeting began: 19:30 Present: Michelle, Donal, Charlene, Tina, Charlie, Mick
Signatories
Tine and Charlene proposed that Mick be added as a fourth signatory for cheques, on the basis that it would make it more likely that at least 2 signatories could be found at any given time. Michelle strongly disagreed with the idea. No other agreement or objection was voiced from others and Tina and Charlene agreed not to add a fourth person.
SPC
Donal explained how the new SPC sign-up system would affect Redbrick with specific reference to new members joining after C&S day. It was agreed that the best system would be one where a new member first pays in the hub, as they would for any other society, and then the admins (who will receive a mail with the contact details of the person who has paid) will make contact and advise on how to chose a username.
Orientation Week
Donal noted that all students have included in their orientation week schedule, a vist to the HUB, during which they learn about the SU and C&S. Redbrick can have people available to explain the benefits of joining to the freshers. It was agreed that the banner should be displayed prominently (either on the Interfaith Centre or the HUB balcony) and for leaflets and lollipops to be given out. An exact list has not yet been made of who will be available to help out. Tina will post to the boards to see if there are volunteers from outside the committee.
Tech Week
Tech week will take place in week 2 of semester 2. This will include "InstallFest", talks, tutorials and crossover input from other societies and sections of the college, such as digital art from photosoc or the multimedia facualty.
T-shirts
Tine will contact Karl Podesta in the interest of trying to lower the now quite expensive final quote for t-shirt printing.
C&S Day Stand
Volunteers are required to work on the stand for Clubs and Socs Day. Tina is sourcing many many red balloons, in the interest of making the stand as visible as possible. Eoghan is having an a0 poster printed and Donal would like to know if he can also have an a0 sized rb logo done at the same time.
Root
Donal and Tina asserted worries that the current system of multiple ex-admins and webmasters holding root can lead to members doubting their privacy. Donal suggest that a list be made available on the website of all current root-holders, so that members do not feel that this information is being kept from them.
Constitution
Donal noted that a copy of the current constitution is not available on the website and requested that Dave add the latest version when he carries out the other necessary updates.
Grant App
The first event of the year will happen before the grant apps are due and funding application for it must be made to the spc seperately and as soon as possible (Charlene to mail Riona J.McC.). All other events need to be detailed in the grant app and Charlene has a list of proposed events. Any committee members not present who have suggestions need to make them known as soon as possible, for discussion and inclusion.
First Tutorial
Helpdesk members need to agree on the date of the first "Welcome" tutorial so that a room can be book by Tina. Please email the committee list as soon as possible with the proposed date.
